CHAPTER 2: FINDING A BLOG NICHE

Hello and welcome to Blog guide with Sharifah 101.

Finding a blog niche can be very hard sometimes, no, all the time :( ...

However don’t worry, you’re not alone.

When I started my blog, I didn’t know what to write about.

Because of this I started writing about things that I saw popular bloggers writing about

such as 'story times', 'What is in my bag' and so on.

It was just all over the place.

In this chapter, I will share my personal tips and tricks on finding your blog niche and style.

The keywords for this chapter are…

Niche, blog, creativity, Purpose, Passion, target audience and goals.

Definitions

Niche: A type of theme topic for your blog, e.g Health and Fitness.

Blog: A regularly updated website or web page.

Purpose: The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

Passion: Strong and barely controllable emotion.

Target audience: A particular group that is aimed at.

Goals: The object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.

Picking a blog niche with Sharifah

1. What can I write about?

You can write about anything you like, it's really up to you, for example…

• Music

• Dance

• Art

• Poetry

• Fashion

• Lifestyle

• Food

• Travel

• etc...

2. How do you pick a blog niche?

Finding your niche is like discovering a part of yourself. Blogging should be something that you enjoy doing, so your niche should be something that you are passionate about expressing to the public. There for there are some questions that you need to ask yourself:

What are your personal interests?

What do you do in your spare time?

What are your favorite subjects to talk about?

etc...

3. Why did you pick your answers?

Are they truly things that you will like sharing with others?

Additional advice

Make sure you pick a niche that you know very well.

Please, if you already know your blog niche, make sure it is appropriate for your target market.

Personally, Stick to about three blog niches, not several blog niches.

When you’re blogging based on your niche, make sure to stick to the subject so readers know what they are reading.

Make sure your blog niche relates to you and your personality!

For example, if you like to read books, create a blog that relates to your favourite book genre; you can create a book review and a blog post that relates to books.

If you’re an aspiring Journalist, you can create a blog that relates to journalism such as writing an article about a topic you’re interested in.

Basically, find a niche that you’re most likely to watch, talk and write about!
